DESCRIPTION: APW - Rockford, low serial #89, 15J marked as "15 Ruby Jewels," Model 1, 18S, 10-14K gold (tested, no fade of 10K solution on stone, very slow fade of 14K solution on stone, suggesting content possibly in the approximately 12K range) B&T HC with attractive engine turning and engraving detail, front and rear lids with crown hallmark, gold cuvette with winged hourglass hallmark within a shield, white enamel SS impressed dial, KWKS, gold jewel settings, gilt mvt, s#82. Gross weight of assembled watch 76.0 dwt (118.2 g). An attractive very early example, Rockford's first 100 serial numbers were divided between the production of their top two initial grades, the "19 Ruby Jewels" and the "15 Ruby Jewels." CONDITION: Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, good gilt tone, small scratch at left perimeter of barrel bridge, some typical micro-fine scratches elsewhere to plates, some marring to balance jewel setting and immediate surrounding area, oxide to hairspring stud and in a few spots to regulator assembly; nearly flawless dial with few minuscule flakes to rim of seconds-register hole and to rim of center hole; excellent hands, minute with mild bend; case shows light to medium wear, ding to front below-right of center, reduced engine turning and engraving detail with small portions of full loss to engine turning at front shoulder and large portions of full loss to engine turning at rear shoulder; tight bow, push shows ample wear; glass crystal is currently loose and is a smaller than appropriate size that should be replaced.
